Half-prepped in front of the dressing room mirror of a bustling gay bar, Russell, an actor who turned drag queen, receives a wrenching ultimatum. Overwhelmed, he escapes to the countryside to visit his grandmother Margaret, a sardonic woman in steep decline. In a perfect but precarious solution, he moves in to save her from the local nursing home. Despite battling with the demons of his past and present, Russell manages to brighten up the local bar through his alter ego Fishy Falters although struggling to discover his fierce, new identity. Meanwhile, Margaret fights to retake control.
