Brindisi was always considered the reign of cigarette smuggling. The director goes back home to discover what is left of the past and what is leading the city towards the future. The city is narrated through the stories of 4 characters, 4 generations. Nanda, Rino, Salvatore and Andrea: love, jail, past and hope in Marlboro City.

Valentina Pedicini

Born in Brindisi in 1978, Valentina Pedicini studied at the ZeLig International School of Documentary, from which she graduated in 2010. She directed the documentaries My Marlboro City (2010), Dal profondo (2013), which received the 2013 Solinas award and a honorable mention at the 2014 Nastri d'Argento awards, Faith (2019), the short films Mio sovversivo amore (2009) and Era ieri (2016), which was presented at the Lovers Film Festival in 2017, and the feature film Dove cadono le ombre (2017), which was presented at the 74th edition of the Venice Film Festival. Valentina passed away in the month of November in 2020, after a long illness.
