I RACCONTI DI CANTERBURY

THE CANTERBURY TALES
by Pier Paolo Pasolini
Country: Italy
Year: 1972
Duration: 111'

On the way to Canterbury, Geoffrey Chaucer (played by Pasolini himself) entertains the other pilgrims on their way to the tomb of Saint Thomas Beckett with a series of licentious and salacious tales. The second chapter of the "Trilogy of life", taken from the homonymous founding text of British literature, continues in Pasolini's reconstruction of the fourteenth-century Middle Ages: the scenario changes but not the deliberately provocative representation of a hilarious, grasping and lewd humanity. Here and there, however, a gloomy melancholy previously absent peeps out. Golden Bear in Berlin.
