LOVERS CELEBRATION

LA RAGAZZA CON LA PISTOLA

THE GIRL WITH A PISTOL
by Mario Monicelli
Country: Italy
Year: 1968
Duration: 103'

Assunta Patanè, a fiery Sicilian and traditionalist, performs the most classic of elopements with her beloved Vincenzo, in order to bind him into the obligation of a shotgun wedding. But he doesn't think so and escapes to Scotland, losing track of himself. Determined to avenge her honour, Assunta pursues him armed and resolute. But we are in the Sixties and the passage from Sicily to the United Kingdom, at its swinging peak, will open her eyes to her condition as a woman. The Lovers FF pays homage to Monica Vitti with one of her most loved interpretations, in a rare and successful example of Italian female comedy.
