Idyllic and sparkling landscapes are the fantasy refuge of a beautiful young man, in reality a hustler in the public toilets of the disreputable neighbourhoods of the city. Sex for him is a profession and nothing more: like the Narcissus of Hellenic mythology, he cannot love anyone other than himself, by alla means. An absolute cult, nocturnal and camp, which, starting from the lesson of Jack Smith and Kenneth Anger, builds a dazzling and kaleidoscopic aesthetic universe, with pictorial echoes of Gustav Klimt and Maxfield Parrish. Lovers FF's dutiful tribute to director James Bidgood, who passed away a few months ago.

Biography

film director

James Bidgood

James Bidgood (1933 – 2022) worked as a drag queen, window dresser, costume designer, erotic photographer (beefcake genre) before directing his only movie, the work for which he is still remembered: Pink Narcissus (1971). The result of a long and troubled production, which lasted eight years, this underground classic of homoeroticism was for a long time disowned by the director, who was unhappy with the final result and admitted its authorship only in 1999.
