Midnight Cowboy was the first R-rated movie to win an Oscar, thus ushering in the New Hollywood Era. An absolute cult film, portraying the lives of the aspiring gigolo Jon Voight and conman Dustin Hoffman, who move against the background of a nocturnal and desperate New York.
