For Henry, the dream of retirement soon turns sour: his days seem to stretch endlessly ahead and, after being with Thom for 35 years, he feels that their relationship has passed the point of no return and is falling apart. They battle each other in their home as they continue to grow apart, both emotionally and sexually. They no longer have any motivation and their separation is inevitable.
