LOVERS CELEBRATION

REFLECTIONS IN A GOLDEN EYE

by John Huston
Country: USA
Year: 1967
Duration: 108'

Rigid, troubled Sergeant Major Penderton (Marlon Brando) is married to beautiful, bad-tempered Leonora (Elizabeth Taylor), who despises him and has an affair with Lieutenant Colonel Langdon. The Sergeant Major’s forbidden desire is Private Williams who, in his turn, is obsessed with Penderton’s wife, spying on her when she is at home with tragic results. Lovers FF and Turin Film Festival rediscover one of the least known Brando films, in a kitsch, tragic melodrama, based on Carson McCullers’ novel and directed by movie master John Houston.
