Lia, a retired teacher in Georgia, has promised her dying sister to track down her transgender daughter, who has disappeared in Turkey. Her search brings her to Istanbul, a city where “people go to disappear”, as Lia herself notes. Here, she comes in contact with an unknown world that fascinates her, even while it repels her. Lia begins to think that her niece has disappeared voluntarily …
A courageous, and powerful portrait of women, that examines the theme of acceptance in incredibly difficult contexts. The movie was awarded the jury prize at the Teddy Awards in 2024.
