REAL LOVERS

EROS

by Rachel Daisy Ellis
Country: Brazil
Year: 2024
Duration: 107'

Day use hotels, called “motels”, are a real institution in Brazil. With their relatively kitsch architecture, they are no less varied than their many patrons, who in the film are asked to independently film, via mobile phone, what goes on in the privacy of their room. Through this material, with unashamed voyeurism, Eros observes different forms of intimacy, including sexual performance, self-reflection and solitude, prompting the viewer to wonder what distinguishes (and what unites) romantic love and transgression.
