I'M YOUR VENUS

During the filming of the seminal work, Paris Is Burning, Jennifer Livingstone's 1990 documentary describing the explosion of ballroom culture in New York City, one of the leading characters is found dead, strangled in a hotel bed. Thirty years later, and with no culprit yet discovered, director Kimberley Reed returns to the painful case of Venus Xtravaganza and brings together her 2 families: the biological one, an Italian American family named Pelegatti, and the one she belonged to within the ballroom scene, the Xtravaganzas. The director’s goal is to celebrate her memory and reflect on what has changed since then.
