Cass is a babysitter, works in a restaurant and deals recreational drugs in order to pay their rent in San Francisco. After a one-night stand with Kalli, a coworker they have a crush on, Cass agrees to babysit her 11-year-old daughter, Ari, while Kalli is out of town. But, as time goes by without hearing from Kalli, Cass and Ari form a bond that brings back memories of the difficult childhood and the pain that Cass had run away from. A film of warmth and humanity, in a rundown neighborhood of San Francisco. With Asia Kate Dillon (“Orange Is the New Black”, “Billions”).

Elena Oxman
Elena Oxman is a writer/director with experience in both documentary and narrative films. A two-time recipient of the SFFILM FilmHouse Residency, she wrote and directed the narrative short Lit (2014), which premiered at the Palm Springs International Shortfest and was featured at major festivals like Frameline and Outfest. A Yale graduate, she co-founded the documentary production company American Beat, whose films have aired on public television and screened globally. Outerlands is her debut feature film.
