Nate is an anxious millennial writer who unexpectedly discovers his partner’s infidelity. He decides to change his life, leaving city life behind to move to the countryside with his grandparents. But the decision proves misguided: the days drift by aimlessly, and his two elderly grandparents turn out to be incredibly overbearing, driven by a desire to “improve” a grandson they fail to understand. The situation gets even worse when his grandfather Saul begins to display symptoms of dementia and his grandmother refuses to accept the truth. Nate is torn between his love for his grandparents and his own needs and struggles to find a way forward, especially as his relationship with Charlie, the charming family doctor, takes a more personal turn. A comedy that blends humour, emotion, and reflection, while sensitively exploring themes such as aging, family, and generational conflict. The film marks Mike Doyle’s return to the Lovers Film Festival, following Passing Through (2023), and features F. Murray Abraham—Academy Award winner for his role as Antonio Salieri in Amadeus (dir. Miloš Forman)—as Saul.
