In 1980s Colombia. Rejected by their parents because of their sexual orientation, four young people end up on the streets, scraping by through crime and prostitution. Their dream is to move to the US, but once they arrive in Bogotá, that dream is dashed: their visa applications are rejected and the four find themselves trapped in the Santa Fe quarter, the capital’s red-light district. As the years go by, the course of their lives will change dramatically, taking completely different turns. Caracas Avenue aims to shed light on a forgotten reality: the living conditions of transgender women in Colombia.

Juana Jiménez del Toro
Juana Jiménez del Toro was the first Colombian actress to appear in Italian movies, particularly in RAI productions. She worked on more than forty projects, including the Italian TV comedy Piovuto dal Cielo (2000) and, in 2020, she directed her first feature film, Harmonie la reina de la noche, which has received various awards at different internationally renowned film festivals. Del Toro also directed Ni una más, a short film against transphobia and she is currently working on a new horror project.
