In this disturbing fairy tale, set in an allegorical America, Charlie lives in his grandmother’s enchanted world, immersed in a paradise shielded from his father’s twisted impulses and his mother’s frozen, spell‑like state. But even this enchanted bubble breaks, and Charlie must confront the hostile world and himself. The grotesque tones, along with the fantastical and ironic realism inspired by Marcel Aymé, create a kind of living‑puppet theatre. The characters’ bodies, anything but ordinary, embody the clash between identity and mask.
