The professional and love life of Lok, a thirty-year-old director living in Macao, has reached a stalemate. After her first feature film, she feels her creativity is fading. Despite desiring to marry her partner Bei Bei, the memories of her previous relationships—and their consequences—keep resurfacing. Before her eyes, the images of the experiences she has lived so far flash by, along with the encounters that shaped her character. Starting from when, as a student, she met Yar, who helped her understand what she truly wanted and needed, emotionally and otherwise. After her, she started a relationship with the rebellious and nonconformist Kai-Ching, whom she met when she was studying in Taiwan: as a girl coming from a traditionalist family, it is a time of profound changes, where uncertainties about the future are tempered by the carefree nature of the present. The passage of time and the sedimentation of memory are the core themes of this provocative coming-of-age novel unfolding in reverse—in which Virginia Woolf’s Orlando comes back to life in a Michel Gondry style.

Tracy Choi
Grown up in Macao, Tracy Choi earned a bachelor's degree in Film in Taiwan and a master’s degree in Hong Kong. She then worked in the television industry, contributing to the production of short films and documentaries. Her first feature, Sisterhood (2017), won the Audience Choice Award at the Macau International Film Festival and received two nominations at the Hong Kong Film Awards. Choi has since directed the feature films Lonely Eighteen (2023) and Promise of Decades (2024).
