When Netflix launched the casting call in Poland for a trans boy in the feature film Fanfic, the response exceeded all expectations: more than 300 teenagers from every corner of the country and diverse social backgrounds showed up. A striking result with undeniable political value, revealing the desire of young Polish LGBTQI+ people for visibility and representation beyond stereotypes and clichés. Above all, it shows their determination to join the public debate in a Catholic nation shifting increasingly to the right. Their testimonies, their desires, their demands: a portrait emerging as a mosaic of stories, voices, and images of a society kept in the shadows. Until now.
Biography

Marek Kozakiewicz
Born in 1986, Marek Kozakiewick studied at the National Film School in Lodz. He directed the documentaries Silent Love (2022), co-produced by ARTE and successfully presented at festivals around the world, We Are Perfect (2023) and the television production Bleib bei mir (2023). When he's not directing his own projects, he works as a cinematographer: in 2019 and 2023, he was nominated for Best Cinematography in a Documentary by the Polish Society of Cinematographers.
